Door Jamb
The door jamb is a piece of the door frame. It covers the rough framing, and is what the door hangs on. Door jambs are typically sold as blank canvases, but are then used to create 3 vital pieces for door installation – the hinge jamb, strike jamb, and header. What size door jamb do I need? Typically, if you have rough 2 x 4 framing you need a 4 5/8” wide door jamb, and if you have rough 2 x 6 framing you need a 6 5/8” wide door jamb.
